In a yet another setback for Azam Khan’s Maulana Mohd Ali Jauhar Trust in Rampur, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Tuesday cleared a proposal to take back about 41,181 sq feet of land given to the trust through two government orders in September 2006 and February 2007.
The land parcels were given on lease for 30 years on an annual payment of Rs 100 per annum.
Cabinet minister Suresh Khanna said, “In Rampur district, about 41,181 sq ft of land of the Murtaza Uchhattar Madhyamik Vidyalaya was given to the Maulana Mohd Ali Jauhar Trust. It was found that the conditions of allotment were flouted in this case. The land was given on lease for extension of the University but it was found that an office of a political party was being run from there. Thus, the land is being taken back from the trust.”
He added, “The offices of the District Inspector of School and the Basic Education Office are also located in the same building. Thus, the cabinet has approved the cancellation of land and building given to Mohd Ali Jauhar trust and after taking it back, its possession would be given to the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Department.”
