Two doctors and a fifth-year medical student at AIIMS Jodhpur have been arrested in Jaipur for allegedly using a dummy candidate in passing the NEET UG exam 2020, officials said. The development has prompted the police to investigate the involvement of other people.

According to the police, the arrests were made on June 5 on the back of a complaint by a 45-year-old man from Chomu, on May 15. The complainant had accused the suspect, the medical student Sachin Gora, of using a dummy candidate for the 2020 NEET exam paper on May 15. Investigators found that the suspect had allegedly paid a medical student, Ajit Gora, Rs 60 lakh to take the test.

The deal was allegedly struck through an Ayurveda practitioner, Dr. Subhash Saini, a resident of Jaitpura, Chomu, who’s currently posted at Ghatwa (Kuchaman) Nagaur on the post of Common Health Officer (CHO). All three accused belong to Chomu.

Sachin scored 667 marks in the exam, with police claiming to have secured records from both Jagannath Pahariya Medical College, Bharatpur, where Ajit Gora is currently doing his internship, and AIIMS Jodhpur Medical College.

Jaipur DCP (West) Amit Kumar said: “During investigation, we found that a photo of Ajit Gora was pasted on the ID of Sachin Gora, a student of AIIMS Jodhpur.”

Bharatpur and Jodhpur Police are also part of the investigation.

Saini was previously arrested in 2013 for a Rs 65 lakh fraud and has also been suspected to be involved in various cases involving supplying dummy candidates for examinations. Police are now suspecting the involvement of a higher number of students.
