Union Home Minister Amit Shah Wednesday said Tripura has transformed into a “land-linked state” from a “land-locked state” under the BJP-led government. He also praised the state government for making the recruitment process for government jobs transparent.

Virtually addressing an event held in Agartala – wherein appointment letters were handed over to qualified allopathy, homeopathy, and ayurvedic pharmacists, laboratory technicians, and multi-tasking staff – Shah said, “It is an epoch-changing event for Tripura. One may wonder how 2,800-odd youths getting jobs would change an epoch. Let us remember that some time ago when the Communist party ruled here, it was very important to join the communist cadre to get a job. On the contrary, Tripura CM Dr Manik Saha has given 2,806 youths government jobs without any partisan attitude, corruption, recommendation or any bias…”

“As soon as they (candidates) got offer letters, they became a part of Modiji’s ‘Viksit Tripura, Viksit Bharat Abhiyan’,” he further said and also lauded the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC), Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB), and the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT) for “professionally conducting the recruitment process”.

Stating that Northeast India has started to walk on the path of development since the BJP-led NDA government came to power at the Centre in 2014, Shah said, “In these 10 years, central ministers have visited the region over 700 times. Several initiatives were started in the region. Northeast was earlier known for terrorism, infiltration, blockade, drugs, armed trafficking, and corruption… Today, it is known for development, connectivity, infrastructure, education, investment, and agricultural development.”

“Tripura was known as a landlocked state once upon a time. Today, it is known as a land-linked state. Tripura is now connected through airways, land, rail, and waterways. Since the BJP came to power in Tripura, the government has worked to end corruption and unrest. Modiji’s government, Modiji himself, and the entire Government of India are fully committed to the welfare of Tripura. The state government is fully invested in working for the welfare of the people as well,” the Union home minister added.

Speaking at the event, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said 16,451 people were recruited in various state government departments from 2018-19 till January this year. He also said 1,617 jobs were created in different industries through Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Limited in the last three years.

“The government of Tripura has ensured a transparent recruitment process by putting a clear recruitment policy in place. Recruitment activities across various departments through… are currently underway. The state administration is monitoring to ensure that no deserving candidate is overlooked. Candidates with talent and qualifications are prioritised for recruitment over party allegiance,” added CM Saha.
