The Tripura unit of Congress has started preparing for the visit of senior leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi to the state in December and the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Rahul and Priyanka are expected to visit Tripura within the second or third week of December.
To gear up for the visits, Congress conducted an organisational meeting at the Students’ Health Home in Agartala Saturday which was attended by the party’s organisational chiefs and chairmen.
“We discussed initiatives to be taken alongside preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. We also discussed the visit of Priyanka Gandhi next month and the scheduled Raj Bhawan Abhiyan,” said Congress chief Asish Kumar Saha.
A few days ago, Congress secretary in-charge of Tripura Szarita Laitphlang had said that the visit by the Gandhis will be finalised after the announcement of the Assembly election results in the five states, including Mizoram and Rajasthan.
Rahul and Priyanka’s purpose of visit is to strengthen the party organisation and to hold meetings with the state leaders and listen and learn about the problems and sufferings of the people. The senior leaders will also visit Tripurasundari temple at Udaipur in Gomati district.
