Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has urged students to enter politics for the greater good, claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has transformed India’s political landscape since 2014, ending dynastic politics and broadening the horizon for capable people from modest backgrounds.
Saha made the comments during a programme held on Tuesday at the Agartala Town Hall, where he felicitated over 400 students from the Bardowali Assembly constituency who scored over 60 per cent marks in the recent Class 10 and 12 board examinations.
Saha said the National Education Policy 2020, with its focus on India’s heritage, skill development, and practical knowledge, would be instrumental in reclaiming India’s academic legacy, which boasted of ancient centres of learning such as Nalanda and Taxila.
Saha, who also holds the education portfolio, said Tripura actively implements the NEP.
With the implementation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of quality education, Tripura has recorded significant improvements in board examination results, the chief minister said.
Saha highlighted the opening of new colleges and universities to help students avoid having to pursue higher education outside the state.
The chief minister further said there had been a positive trend of girls outperforming boys in board examinations in the state.
