BJP Tripura West candidate Biplab Kumar Deb on Sunday urged both public and private employees to develop an independent mentality and not join any organisation out of fear.
“I want to create swanirbhar mentality among government employees. Even if you work in private firms, you need to have atmanirbhar, swanirbhar mentality. Otherwise, no one can shine in life,” Deb said while attending an event held by Vivekananda Bichar Mancha in Agartala.

“Whether an employee, or a businessman, or a politician, or a car driver, or a pilot, if there is no atma biswas (self-confidence), self-satisfaction, no man can stand on his own feet…” he said.
Deb also asked employees to do their respective jobs with respect without bowing to anyone except their parents and God.
He further said that if Narendra Modi had bowed down to America, he would have never become the prime minister of India. Or, if Amit Shah had bowed down to former Congress minister P Chidambaram, he would not have become the Union home minister.
Deb also said if Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose had bowed down to the British, the Azad Hind Fauj would have never been formed, nor would have India attained freedom in 1947.
“You will not get anything by bowing down your head,” Deb said.
The former Tripura CM also asked the employees to work for the country.
In a reference to the erstwhile Left Front-led state government, Deb said “subscription fees” are not deducted from the salaries of state government employees under the BJP regime unlike in the past.
The BJP leader also said state government employees were given 25 per cent dearness allowance without the latter having to resort to any protest during his chief ministership
