Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury on Monday asked Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha to stop a Bengal-based private entity purportedly run by incarcerated TMC leader Anubrata Mondal from running a medical college at the century-old Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Hospital in Agartala. In a letter written to CM Saha, the Opposition leader stated that they welcome more medical colleges in the state but the same should not come at the cost of handing over an existing government-run hospital to a private entity. Chaudhury said Bengal BJP leader Subhendu Adhikari had already raised the issue with the Union health minister. “Considering the gravity and seriousness of the issue, I would like to draw your personal attention to the matter, so that the very basic interest of the people of Tripura, like healthcare, may not suffer in any manner…” Chaudhury wrote in the letter.
