Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee, part of a multi-party delegation visiting foreign capitals, strongly criticised Pakistan’s involvement in terrorism during a meeting with think tanks in Seoul on Monday.

He said that the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack transcends India’s national security concerns, becoming a global imperative.

Underlining Islamabad’s involvement in the barbaric Pahalgam terror attack, where terrorists shot down 26 civilians, mostly tourists, Banerjee said that Pakistan’s history of harbouring terrorists is evident.

“We want to tell the world that any support to Pakistan is a support to a terror organisation…. The 22nd April Pahalgam terror attack is no more a matter of India’s national security; it has turned out to be a global imperative now,” the TMC MP said.

“We have been saying how Pakistan has been harbouring terrorists on their land. If you look at the trajectory of economies of India and Pakistan, there is a difference between hell and heaven… The attack in Pahalgam is a testament to the fact that they don’t want the Indian economy to prosper,” he added.

Banerjee is part of an all-party delegation – led by Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Jha – to Japan as part of India’s diplomatic outreach to highlight New Delhi’s stance against cross-border terrorism following the April 22 attack

‘If terrorism is rabid dog, Pakistan is wild handler’

Earlier, Banerjee, in a fiery speech in Tokyo, said that if terrorism is a “rabid dog”, Pakistan is its “vile handler”, emphasising that the world must come together to fight against it.

“We are here to convey the truth— India refuses to bow down,” the TMC MP said on Saturday.

“We will not yield to fear. We have learnt to respond in a language that they understand. If terrorism is a rabid dog, Pakistan is its vile handler. We must first unite the world to tackle this wild handler—else it will continue to breed more rabid dogs,” he lashed out at Pakistan in a strong-worded address.
