Vulgar graffiti on airport toilet wall; action taken

The matter was recently brought before the attention of Civil Aviation Ministry by one Guru Nair,a Congress activist from Maharashtra.

Taking a serious note of some vulgar graffiti scribbled inside the toilet walls at the international airport here,authorities have taken administrative action against the concerned staff who had delayed in removing it.

Nair,in a complaint to the Ministry,pointed out about the graffiti which he noticed during a recent visit.

Thiruvananthapuram Airport Director N V Chandran said that “administrative action as per government rule” has been taken against the concerned staff of house-keeping,terminal management and civil engineering departments.

Admitting that there was a minor delay in removing the graffiti from the walls,he said “all the concerned workers have been sensitized on the matter to avoid such things happening in future.”

He said Thiruvananthapuram airport is one of the best run aiports in the country known for its cleanliness. The particular issue had been blown up out of proportion with ulterior motives,Chandran said.

In his complaint sent to the Aviation Ministry,Guru Nair said there were some very objectionable and vulgar graffiti scribbled on the walls of gents’ rest-room at the airport against some top female political leaders of the country.

He also alleged that the airport authorities had not given much attention to his complaint when he brought the issue to their notice.
