UP: FIR registered against 15 protesters

An FIR has been lodged against 15 people in connection with protest by Moallim-e-Urdu degree holders,who climbed atop an overhead water tank and threatened to commit suicide.

While an FIR has been lodged against six,who climbed on the tank,a case has been lodged against nine office-bearers of the Association on charges of inciting,police said here today.

Six Moallim-e-Urdu degree holders,including three women,yesterday climbed atop the water tank demanding the UP government to recognise their degree equivalent to Basic Training Certificate,police said.

The police later used force to bring down the protesters,who refused to budge,despite assurance by senior officials to

look into their demands.
