Swaraj rules out being in race to become Leader of Opposition

Sushma Swaraj ruled out being in the race for the post of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj on Sunday ruled out being in the race for the post of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

“It is not possible for me to think of becoming Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha in the presence of L K Advani in the house. I just can’t think of it and it is very painful for me to think so,” Swaraj told reporters at Raisen district collectorate here.

She was responding to a query about reports that she is in the race for the post of the Leader of Opposition.

Swaraj,who won Vidisha Lok Sabha seat with a record margin of votes in the absence of any Congress candidate,had come to the collectorate to collect her winning certificate.

Swaraj’s name was reportedly among the prospective candidates being considered for the post of Leader of Opposition after Advani declined to lead the Opposition in 15th Lok Sabha.
