Seven persons,including three women,were killed and three others injured on Tuesday when a jeep in which they were travelling rammed into a running train at an unmanned railway crossing in Rajasthan’s Churu district.
Five of them died on the spot and two succumbed later at a local hospital,the Churu SP Nishar Ahmed Farooqui said on the phone.
The three injured are still at the hospital,he said.
The Rewari-Sadulpur-Hisar train was hit by the jeep at Sheopur-Ki-Dhani village between Surajpura and Jhunpa railway stations at the unmanned crossing at around 11 am.
There was no damage to the train bogies and it left for its destination after a short halt,a North-Western Railways spokesman said.
The deceased were identified as Ramsunder,Bhagchand,Beerkati,Krishna,Shivdan,Karshan and Bedo,the SP said.
