Lokayukta police seeks legal opinion in complaint against BSY

Police is investigate allegations of corruption in denotification of lands against Karnataka CM and others

Lokayukta police today commenced the process of seeking legal opinion on a court’s order directing it to investigate allegations of corruption in denotification of lands against Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and others and said they expected a response by March 28.

“We are eliciting legal opinion from our legal cell on filing FIRs with regard to allegations in light of the Special Court order. We expect the response by Monday,after which we will decide the further course of action”,Additional Director General of Police Lokayukta,Rupak Kumar Dutta said.

Lokyukta police were served the Special Court’s order yesterday.

The court had directed Lokayukta police to complete the enquiry and submit a report by May 4 on one of five complaints by advocates Sirajin Bhasha and K N Balaraj,alleging that the Chief Minister indulged in irregularities in denotifying lands acquired by BDA to favour his family members.

No pressure on Lokayukta police wing: Hegde

“There is no pressure. We will not succumb to any pressure. The court has asked us to investigate. We will submit the report as per the time limit set by the court”,Lokayukta Santosh Hegde told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.

He said the Lokayukta police would decide on the issue of registering FIR against Yeddyurappa.
