Hardcore naxal held in UP’s Sonbhadra

A naxalite carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head was on Sunday arrested along with his accomplice following an encounter in Sonbhadra district,police said.

Girdhar Gopal alias Gope,a hardcore naxalite,was arrested along with his accomplice Gorakhnath Yadav,a native of Jharkhand,from Kon area of Sonbhadra district in the wee hours this morning,they said.

A double barrel gun and cartridges were seized from their possession.

Superintendent of Police Pritinder Singh said Gope was facing charges in nine cases,including that of murder and arson while Yadav is an accused in four cases.
