2 CRPF jawans among 9 persons injured in militant attack

No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.

Militants struck twice on CRPF personnel within three hours in Pulwama district of Kashmir,leaving nine persons,including two CRPF jawans injured,police said.

The first attack took place at around 3 PM when ultras lobbed a grenade at the mobile bunker vehicle of 182 Battalion CRPF in Pulwama town,32 kms from here,resulting in injuries to seven people,including two CRPF personnel,Superintendent of Police Pulwama Abdul Razak said.

The injured included two CRPF personnel,four men and a woman,he said.

The attack took place when Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was chairing the district development board meeting for Pulwama less than a kilometre away,official sources said.

It caused panic among the passers as security forces cordoned off the area,they said,adding normalcy was restored within 30 minutes.

Militants struck again at around 6 PM this evening,when they lobbed a grenade at a CRPF party at Kakapora town,20 kms from here in the district,a police spokesman said.

He said the grenade missed the intended target and exploded by the roadside,causing injuries to two civilians.
