Rajasthan: UP man’s body found in drum; wife, landlord’s son missing

Rajasthan Police Sunday said they have found the body of a man, in his early 30s, in a blue drum on the roof of his rented house in Khairthal Tijara district.

Deputy SP Rajendra Singh, posted at district’s Kishangarh Bas circle, said: “We were informed in the afternoon that a foul smell is emanating from a residence in Adarsh Colony. The tenants living upstairs were missing, but there was a blue drum… On opening the drum, we found a body inside. It was of tenant Hansram alias Suraj, a native of Uttar Pradesh, who was working at a brick kiln here. The body was beneath a pile of clothes and had salt on it. The body has been sent to a hospital, and efforts are on to notify his kin. His wife and their three children are missing as is Jitendra, landlord’s son.”

Jitendra Singh Shekhawat, SHO Kishangarh Bas police station, said Hansram and his wife Sunita alias Lakshmi were given a room and a kitchen on the roof on rent, about a month and a half ago, by the Sharma family. “Sunita, the three children, and Jitendra Sharma are missing. Prima facie it appears Sunita had relations with Jitendra and the two conspired to kill Hansram. Jitendra’s wife had passed away a few years ago,” the SHO said. The neighbours had informed police about the foul smell at around 3:30 pm on Sunday. After the body was found, the FSL team reached the spot. Hansram hailed from Navadia Nawazpur village in UP’s Shahjahanpur.
