Punjab: SAD expels MP, former MP and their sons

The decision was taken in the party’s core committee meeting chaired by SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal. SAD patron Parkash Singh Badal was not present.

SHIROMANI AKALI Dal (SAD) Sunday expelled Taksali Akali leader and Khadoor Sahib Member of Parliament Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, his son Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, former Member of Parliament Rattan Singh Ajnala and his son Amarpal Singh ‘Bony’ Ajnala from primary membership of the party for “indulging in anti-party activities”.

The decision was taken in the party’s core committee meeting chaired by SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal. SAD patron Parkash Singh Badal was not present.

A statement by SAD said that the Core Committee of the Shiromani Akali Dal Sunday decided “with a heavy heart” to expel the four leaders from primary membership of the party for six years.

Three veteran leaders from Majha, Brahampura, Ajnala and Sewa Singh Sekhwan had revolted, questioning the functioning of the party under the command of Sukhbir Badal.
