Slain SP Baljit Singh cremated with full state honours

The CM recalling the sacrifice made by SP Baljit Singh and said, “It’s a huge loss, I understand but instead of grieving his demise, you should feel proud of his martyrdom"

The body of the slain SP of Gurdaspur Baljit Singh, who died during the terror attack on Monday in Dinanagar police station, was cremated Wednesday in Kapurthala with full state honours.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal met the grieving family of the martyred SP in the morning before his cremation and assured them that the state government was duty bound to help them in this hour of crisis.

Regarding job offer to the SP’s son, the CM said all help will be given to the family. “Our government would ever be at family’s beck and call and leave no stone unturned to help them in this hour of grief,” he said.

The family had earlier refused to cremate the body of the officer till the government issued appointment letter to the SP’s son.

The CM recalled the sacrifice made by SP Baljit Singh. “It’s a huge loss, I understand but instead of grieving his demise, you should feel proud of his martyrdom as he saved thousands of innocent lives in the country by laying down his life for a greater cause,” Badal said.

The CM was accompanied by MLA Bibi Jagir Kaur, former minister Bibi Upinderjeet Kaur, ADGP  Hardeep Dhillon, his special
principal secretary Ajoy Kumar Sharma, IG Lok Nath Angra, DIG Kunwar Vijay Partap and Deputy Commissioner DS Mangat.
