Punjab farmers have threatened to reach the national capital,Delhi to protest against the increase in the price of diesel, decline of draughts-relief and dispossessing of Punjabi farmers residing in Gujarat.

Ajmer Singh Lakhowal, president of Bhartiya Kisan Union said here today that if the Central Government tries to resort to delaying tactics and fails to find an amicable solution to the waxed issue, the agitation by farmers may be constrained to take some drastic steps.

Lakhowal informed after holding a special meeting of Bharti Kisan Union that if situation turned unsavoury after the protest by farmers, then the Central Government will be solely responsible for all the consequences. He said that BKU wanted to bring out a peaceful protest march but responsibility of agitation going out of control would lie with Centre.

Lakhowal said Central Govrnment is not serious when it comes to Punjab. It had not done to the state at the time of the announcement of draught package for about half a dozen states. The Centre was making lame excuses though it had failed to find covered space for storage of wheat. And now price of diesel had been hiked to make life miserable for farmers and common people.

The BKU leader remarked that farmers are already under huge debt due to the wrong policies of Central Government for fixing the prices of agricultural inputs and for not ensuring remunerative price to the farmers for their produce.

He said that the brave farmers of Punjab had turned infertile land in Gujarat into most fertile land, but unfortunately The Gujarat Government in connivance with UPA Government was trying to dispossess them from their own land. He said that BKU will never tolerate such an action by the Government.

Lakhowal said farmers of Punjab will reach Delhi on the night of September 24 at Gurudawara Shri Bangla Sahib and protest march as per the policy will start from the Gurudawara on September 25 in the morning.
