A slice of Lahore at ‘Sarhad’

Sarhad has a food kitchen in a building which recreates the exquisite craftsmanship in exposed brick work that still survives in some of the old buildings of Amritsar and Lahore.

The interior of the food kitchen has display panels in truck art especially created for Sarhad by Pakistan’s celebrated truck artist Haider Ali.

Haider,who has been commissioned to do truck art by various museums of the world including the Smithsonian in Washington,arrived yesterday at Sarhad where he will paint an Indian truck in Pakistani truck art.

Pakistan’s celebrated documentary film maker Aisha Akram has also arrived at Sarhad.

The highlight of Sarhad will be the museum of peace which will come up during the second phase,project CEO Aman Jaspal said here today.

The museum of peace is a memorial to the partition of India in the last century. The Sarhad logo has a dove with the word ‘peace’ inscribed in 25 languages.

“Amritsar and Lahore share a great culinary tradition. Food is the primary love of all Punjabis. If hunger fuels the fire of anger,food is the energy that propels peace,” Jaspal added.
