Parliament Monsoon Session Day 11: Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha witnessed multiple disruptions today as Opposition MPs continued protests against the Bihar SIR, demanding a discussion in both the Houses. Further, Rajya Sabha Chair Harivansh and LoP Mallikarjun Kharge exchange heated words over the latter's press note regarding CISF personnel in the House when Opposition MPs stormed the well of the House. Kharge wrote in his note, "We are astonished and shocked at the manner in which CISF personnel are made to run into the well of the House when the members are exercising their democratic rights of protest”. What happened on Monday? Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day amid ruckus by Opposition demanding a discussion on Bihar SIR. Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day to pay respect to sitting member Shibu Soren. Congress MP Hibi Eden moved a notice for adjournment motion in Lok Sabha to discuss the arrest of two Kerala-based nuns and a tribal youth in Chhattisgarh on the charges of human trafficking. In the notice, moved to the Secretary General of Lok Sabha on Monday, Eden urged the Lower House to adjourn its business to discuss this matter, given the gravity and implications for communal harmony. Adjournment Motion on Bihar SIR: Congress MP Manickam Tagore has also submitted an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha, seeking discussion on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls by the Election Commission in Bihar, ahead of the Assembly polls. Apart from the two-day debate on the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor, most proceedings in the Monsoon session have been largely stalled by a protesting Opposition.
