Parliament Budget Session Live Updates, Day 8: Following a discussion on the 'White Paper' tabled yesterday, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her reply in the Lok Sabha this evening. She said national security was compromised, environmental clearances delayed and leadership failed during the previous Congress-led UPA government. The Budgest Session of the Parliament has been adjourned till 11 am Saturday. In her opening remarks earlier this morning, the FM doubled down on the BJP's attack against the Congress, saying that the paper shows "which government puts the nation first, and which puts the families first". Hitting back, Congress MP Manish Tewari said, "This is not a white paper, it's a political manifesto." Sitharaman tabled a copy of the 'white paper' on the Indian economy in the Parliament yesterday, contrasting the economic mismanagement under the UPA government with the BJP's ' straightening' of the economy. The budget session, which is the last Parliament session before Lok Sabha polls expected in April-May this year, is slated to conclude on February 10.
