Opposition approaches Om Birla: On Thursday, the Opposition approached Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, flagging the "denial of opportunity" for Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi to speak in the House. The leaders jointly handed over a letter to the Speaker protesting “disregard for Parliament and parliamentary procedures by the government” in the functioning of the House. Sources said the Opposition’s letter raises 12 key issues, including the non-appointment of a Deputy Speaker in the Lok Sabha and the government's "disregard" for Business Advisory Committee (BAC) decisions. Chidambaram questions government on US tariffs: In the Rajya Sabha, former Finance Minister P Chidambaram questioned the government on its response to tariffs imposed by former US President Donald Trump. "President Trump has made it clear that he will launch a tariff war on April 2. If he imposes tariffs on India on that date, what will be the government's response? What is India's plan of action?" he asked.
