Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Friday lauded the government on Operation Sindoor and said the attacks inside Pakistan were inevitable for India’s security.

“We congratulate the central government leadership and our armed forces for the decisive action ‘Operation Sindoor’ taken against Pak-sponsored terrorists and their supporting ecosystem following the cowardly attack on unarmed tourists at Pahalgam. This action to serve justice to aggrieved families and the entire country in the brutal massacre of Hindu tourists has enhanced the self-respect and morale of the whole country,” Bhagwat said in an official statement released by the organisation.

Terming the action taken by India in recent days as “necessary”, Bhagwat said, “We totally agree that military action being taken against terrorists, their infrastructure and support systems in Pakistan is necessary and inevitable for the security of the country. In this hour of national crisis, the entire country stands with the government and armed forces in spirit and action,” he said.

The RSS chief condemned “the attacks being carried out by the Pakistani army on religious places and civilian settlement areas on the border of Bharat” and expressed “heartfelt condolences to families of the victims in these savage, inhuman attacks.”

He also appealed to the citizens to abide by the instructions of the government. “…while discharging our sacred civic duty, we all have to be cautious and not let any conspiracy by anti-national forces succeed in disrupting social unity and harmony,” he said.

Asking citizens to “display their patriotism”, Bhagwat requested them to “be ready to cooperate with the army and civic administration wherever and however required and strengthen all efforts to maintain national unity and security”.

The RSS chief’s message came as the country launched a counter-offensive after Pakistani drones and missiles attempted to hit military facilities in Indian cities on Thursday. Fifteen Indian military installations in the northern and western sectors were reportedly targeted, and the Indian armed forces retaliated by acting against “air defence radars and systems at a number of locations in Pakistan” and “neutralised” an air defence system in Lahore.
