Only biscuits or dry fruits along with tea and potable water would be served to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at any programme attended by him, and not more than two people can speak before the Chief Minister at such events, the Assam government said Saturday.

The maximum duration of such meetings would not exceed one hour, a new set of guidelines by the state government said. “Due to enormous demand for the Chief Minister’s time, no programme should exceed one hour unless approved by the Chief Minister,” the guidelines said.

“Not more than two people shall speak or deliver addresses before the Chief Minister. Only safe drinking water, tea/coffee and biscuits or dry fruits and nothing else shall be served in the meetings,” the new guidelines said.

The guidelines specify that there should be only seven seats in the front row of the dias, and that there should not be more than two rows altogether. The space between the first and second rows should not be less than four feet, it said.
