The Tripura Police arrested a man in possession of a Russian pistol in the North district on Sunday.
The accused was identified as Raju Deb, a resident of Dharmanagar Municipal Council area.
Speaking to reporters, Jeremiah Darlong, Additional Superintendent of Police, said Deb was nabbed from his residence in College Road during an operation led by the SP following a tip-off.
During the raid, the police seized a 7.62 mm Russian automatic pistol along with live cartridges, two smartphones, and a vehicle.
During preliminary interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to having purchased the weapon in Dimapur.
A case has been filed at the Dharmanagar police station charging the man with violating the Arms Act.
