“Leaders come and go. The collective power of people will remain the same,” Sarkar said. (File Photo)Former Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar on Thursday claimed that the ruling BJP was misusing central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to win elections. He also said the saffron party was exploiting the image of Lord Ram to benefit electorally.
While addressing an event held at the Agartala Town Hall to mark the death centenary of Russian communist leader Vladimir Lenin, Sarkar urged CPI(M) workers to unite and isolate the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)-BJP combine.
The CPI(M) leader also criticised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s recent exit from the INDIA bloc but said the development would not affect the poll prospects of the Opposition alliance.
“Leaders come and go. The collective power of people will remain the same,” Sarkar said.
“These (like using religion) are not signs of their strength, instead these indicate their uncertainty about winning the parliamentary elections,” he added.
Expressing apprehensions about ‘unfulfilled’ poll promises of the BJP, the politburo leader warned people against getting swayed again by such promises ahead of the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
