Nepal Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, who is on a four-day visit to India, Thursday urged PM Narendra Modi to resolve border issues between the two countries through bilateral talks.
“I urge PM Modi to resolve the border issues with bilateral talks,” news agency ANI quoted Prachanda as saying after a meeting with Modi. The two heads of states interacted with each other on bolstering India-Nepal cooperation on multiple areas including energy, connectivity and trade.

Prachanda’s India visit also marks his first bilateral trip abroad after assuming office in December last year.
Addressing a joint press meet at Hyderabad House in Delhi, Prachanda said he has extended a cordial invitation to PM Modi to visit Nepal. “I look forward to welcoming him in Nepal,” he added.
PM Modi stated a number of transit agreements were signed between the two nations. “We have established new rail links to increase physical connectivity. Long term power trade agreement has been established between India and Nepal today. This will give strength to the power sector of our countries. The religious and cultural ties between India and Nepal are very old and strong. To further strengthen this, we have decided that projects related to Ramayana Circuit should be expedited,” PM Modi was quoted as saying by ANI.
“I remember, 9 years ago, in 2014, I made my first visit to Nepal. At that time I had given a ‘hit’ formula for India-Nepal relations – Highways, I-ways, and Trans-ways. I had said that we will establish such contacts between India-Nepal that our borders do not become barriers between us. Today Nepal PM and I have taken many important decisions to make our partnership a super hit in the future,” he added.
Several agreements including the extension of cross-border petroleum pipeline and MoU between Institute of Foreign Affairs Nepal and Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service India among others were exchanged.
Prachanda and Modi virtually flagged off checkposts at Rupaidiha in India and Nepalgunj in Nepal.
They jointly unveiled a plaque of the Kurtha-Bijalpura section of the Railway and also flagged off an Indian Railway cargo train from Bathnaha to Nepal Custom yard.
