Accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of having double standards, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Monday said this was visible to the entire nation. “In his speeches, Modi invokes the names of Subash Chandra Bose and Sardar Vallabhai Patel and on the other hand, right under his nose, farmers who have come to seek justice are lathicharged. Modi’s double standards are visible to the entire nation,” Uddhav said. He was speaking after the inauguration of the memorial erected in honour of patriots like Rajguru, Sukhdev and Bhagat Singh in Khed taluka. He also inaugurated Rajguru bridge on the Bhima river. Ridiculing the claims made by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis that he would remain in the saddle after the elections next year, Uddhav said: “We know how we have spent four years with them. If they don’t understand the heat wave coming, then it wont be long before their seat of power gets burnt.” Taking on NCP, Uddhav said the Sharad Pawar-led party is not clearly stating whether it supports the Modi government on the Rafale deal issue. “Ajit Pawar should ask his uncle and make NCP’s stand clear,” he added. Uddhav said that he has been touring the state and seen several talukas facing drought-like situation. “The government is making false promises like providing houses for all by 2030. All this is being done to get votes and then (they will) dump the voters,” he added.
