“In the email, the woman has raised allegations of sexual misconduct against Sanjay Kumar. She also mentioned about the obscene talks that he (Kumar) engaged with her,” Kukreti said to The Indian Express.

In response to the email, Kukreti ordered an inquiry against Kumar. Dehradun SP (rural) Sarita Dobhal will be leading the investigation.

“SP(rural) will get in touch with the complainant and will speak to her about what exactly happened between Sanjay Kumar and her. Based on her response the police might get an FIR filed in the matter,” Kukreti said.

Last Sunday, the Hindi daily Amar Ujala had published a report where a woman, who is a BJP worker in Dehradun, had raised allegations of sexual harassment against Kumar.

On Thursday, Uttarakhand BJP president Ajay Bhatt had announced that following the sexual harassment allegations, Kumar, on his own, requested
that he be removed from the post of Uttarakhand general secretary (organisation).

The woman, who had raised the allegations against Kumar, could not be reached for comments.
