The incident took place around 10 pm near Zara village. Two people, including a former deputy sarpanch of a village in Narayanpur district, were kidnapped and murdered by Maoists Tuesday night in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh. The Maoists said the two were “mukhbir (police informers)”.
Ramji Dodi was kidnapped along with his two nephews and taken to a jungle where he was allegedly strangled to death by the Maoists. The nephews were released with Ramji’s body and a letter saying that he was killed because he was a police informer. The incident took place around 10 pm near Zara village. Ramji was the deputy sarpanch of the village five years ago.
In the second incident, Madkam Raju, 22, of Bheji village in Sukma district, was abducted from his house and murdered by Maoists on suspicion of him being a police informer. A group of Maoists from Konta committee of CPI (Maoists) attacked him with an axe, said the police. Sukma SP Sunil Sharma said, “Raju was not an informer. This is the frustration of Maoists who are losing their domination.”
