AAP's Goa unit leader Walmiki Naik on Saturday alleged that Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar is trying to gain "sympathy" by raising defence-related issues between India and Pakistan during BJP's rallies in the state ahead of Assembly polls next year. "BJP leader Manohar Parrikar is resorting to sympathy gaining technique during the party's 'Vijay Sankalp' rally by speaking about defence issues related to India and Pakistan," AAP Goa leader Walmiki Naik alleged. Watch What Else Is Making News He claimed that the BJP government in the state has "miserably failed" and it has no achievements to show in their five years of rule. Accusing Parrikar of making border tensions an election issue, Naik claimed, "The Narendra Modi-led government's demonetisation move has failed miserably. To hide their failures, our Defence minister is using border tensions and his so-called action on Pakistan to create sympathy, develop patriotism and nationalism." He also questioned Parrikar's authority to chair meeting for "cashless Goa" initiative. "What right did he (Parrikar) have to chair the meeting of bureaucrats on the cashless issue? Is he the defence minister of India or the Chief Minister of Goa," Naik asked. "If Parrikar wants to run the state then he should resign as Defence Minister and come to Panjim (Panaji) and contest the election," he said. Naik said AAP condemns the "high-handed" decision of the BJP government to promote a cashless economy in Goa without either planning for it or consulting the stakeholders. "The Laxmikant Parsekar government's bad move for a fancy-sounding 'cashless Goa' at the mere prompt of the de facto Chief Minister Parrikar. It will only impose further curbs on the common man who is already economically imprisoned by the demonetisation turmoil," he alleged.
