Three persons have been arrested for stripping a man half naked, punching and forcing him to pick up a shoe with his mouth in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district, in an incident which occurred two years ago. In a video recording of the incident, the victim, 34, is seen pleading for mercy with hands tied behind his back while the accused repeatedly punches him in the face. The police have identified the accused as Jawahar Singh, 55, and two other accomplices. The police officer said the prime accused is a government school clerk and is the husband of a village sarpanch. Superintendent of Police (Rewa) Vivek Singh said the fight was over a property dispute between the two men. "He kidnapped the other man, stripped him half naked, tied his hands behind his back, punched him, and made him pick up a shoe with his mouth," the SP said. Police said the video, which started doing rounds of social media last week, was recorded in May 2021. The victim did not file a complaint at the time since he was embarrassed. However, he reached out to the police when the video began circulating in his village. An FIR was registered against Jawahar Singh and two others under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act on Saturday.
