The Lok Sabha returned to its state of logjam on Friday as Opposition members kept demanding a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Manipur issue.
The House was adjourned till midday soon after being convened in the morning. This was a day after the Lower House debated at length and passed the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill in which most of the Opposition members participated.
Soon after the House met at 11 am, members of the Opposition parties trooped into the well of the House seeking a statement from the Prime Minister on the Manipur issue, a demand that they have been raising since the beginning of the Monsoon Session.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi told the Opposition members that there are important Bills listed for Friday’s business. “Even today’s Bills are equally important (as Thursday). We are ready for even private member’s Bills today. Please take part in the proceedings,” he said.
