Two ‘swamis’ from Kerala arrested in AP,antique idols seized

The idols included a gold one of Lakshmi and others of various alloys.

Police at Indiranagar colony,in Chintakomma dinne mandal of YSR district,have arrested two ‘Swamis’ from Kerala,and seized Rs 8.81 lakh cash and 15 antique idols from their car.

Acting on a tip-off,police raided a house in Indiranagar Colony,where Raghavendra and Lakshimikanth,from Kerala,were residing for the last 40 days,last night.

The idols included a gold one of Lakshmi and others of various alloys. Police said that they had informed the Archaeological Department about the idols.

The two men claimed that they were head priests of Kaasee Math in Kerala,and the idols,as well as the money,belonged to the Math.
