Suspected Maoists kill two tribals in AP

The tribals, both in their late 20s belong to the remote Kotagunnulu village of Visakhapatnam district.

Suspected Maoists have killed two tribals in remote Kotagunnulu village of the district, police said on Sunday.

Two tribals,P Srikanth and P Prasad (both in their late 20s),were believed to have been hacked to death by axe and other sharp weapons by a group of Maoists at the village late last night, said Visakhapatnam (Rural) District Superintendent of Police Vineet Brijlal. “Both the tribals died on the spot,” the SP said.

Police suspect that the Maoists from Andhra-Orissa border might have carried out the killings as one of the victim Srikanth,an accused in a murder case and presently out on bail, allegedly worked as a pseudo naxal and indulged in extortion.

A police team has been dispatched to the village and further investigations were underway, the SP said.
