Sanjiv Bhatt,Sreekumar make truce for cause of 2002 riot victims

Bhatt had proposed reconciliation with Sreekumar in "the larger interest of justice" for the riot victims.

Former Gujarat DGP R B Sreekumar and suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt, who are locked in war of words in recent past, have decided to bury the hatchet for “the cause of 2002 riot victims”.

Bhatt had yesterday proposed a reconciliation with his one-time senior Sreekumar in “the larger interest of justice” for the riot victims.

The suspended IPS officer had also observed that infighting between the two would not only help the people in power but also irreparably subvert the cause of justice in

Gujarat, which is very dear to both of them.

“I wholeheartedly welcome your proposal for ending our confrontational communication. Certainly, the whole affair was very very painful for me also,” Sreekumar today wrote in a letter to Bhatt.

“I never did nurture any ill will towards you,who is citing a brave battle against the enemies of syncretic and symbiotic traditions of our motherland,(who are) negating the letter, spirit and ethos of our Constitution,” he added.

“Hereafter, let us not do anything to undermine the faith of riot victim survivors on us. You can certainly expect my earnest support to all your efforts towards truth and righteousness,” Sreekumar added.

The verbal duel between the two started on December 27 when Sreekumar submitted a letter to the Nanavati Commission, raising questions over Bhatt’s integrity for speaking up against Narendra Modi government after a hiatus of almost nine years post riots.
