Karnataka Government announced Rs two lakh compensation to each of the families of those killed in the Air India plane crash at Bajpe airport in Mangalore today.
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa,who left for Mangalore by a special defence helicopter accompanied by Home Minister V S Acharya,had to land near Hassan due to bad weather and proceeded to Mangalore by road,an official statement said.
The Chief Minister visited the crash site and hospitals where the eight survivors are undergoing treatment and enquired about their condition.
He expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the 158 persons including crew members,and directed the Mangalore district administration to arrange for best treatment to the survivors.
