‘Prevent possible attacks on Lankan Tamils’: DMK

He thanks Manmohan Singh for India's support to the resolution.

DMK chief M Karunanidhi today asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take steps to prevent any backlash against Sri Lankan Tamils in view of India’s support to the US-backed resolution against Colombo at UNHRC session.

Thanking Singh for India’s support to the resolution,he said,”News reaching here indicates that there is widespread apprehension among the Sri Lankan Tamils about possible attacks on them in view of the UN resolution.”

Karunanidhi requested Singh to “prevent all such undesirable developments through your diplomatic channels.”

The DMK chief said that the global Tamils would also be thankful to India for voting for a US-sponsored resolution at the UN’s top human rights body.

Karunanidhi also sent a similar letter to UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
