NDA doesn’t believe in principles of democracy: Moily

We have taken concrete actions to tame corruption,Moily said.

Union Law and Justice Minister Verrappa Moily on Saturday said that by refusing the offer of Joint Parliamentary session to discuss 2G spectrum scam, the NDA has shown that it does not “believe in principles of democracy”.

“We are dealing effectively with corruption and we have not tried to hide anything,” Moily said in reply to a question on scams like 2G spectrum impacting credibility of the Congress-lead UPA government.

“We have taken concrete actions to tame corruption and various agencies are investigating the charges,” Moily said referring to the CBI probe in the 2G spectrum scam.

“The Prime Minister has also declared that he is ready to face PAC (Parliamentary Accounts Committee),” he further said after a meeting with party’s legal cell workers from Gujarat at Congress headquarters here.

“We have also offered a joint session of Parliament for discussion on the issue. But it seems that the Opposition is not interested in discussion as the CBI has started investigations from 2001(when NDA was in power),” he said.

“By refusing discussion on the issue the BJP has shown that they do not believe in principles of democracy,” Moily said.

On a question of shortage of judges in Gujarat High Court,Moily said that the process of appointment of judges in high court was on and new appointments will be made soon.
