VHP leader Ashok Singhal today claimed that former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao had a desire to build Ram temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya. "Narasimha Rao had a desire to construct Ram Mandir at Ayodhya and with this intention only the then government had acquired 70 acres of land adjacent to the disputed site," Singhal told a gathering at a foundation stone laying ceremony here. Singhal said he revealed this secret only after the Allahabad High Court's verdict on Ayodhya title suit. He hoped that the Supreme Court's judgement will be in favour of the temple. The VHP approached the Supreme Court to get the entire plot, though it was satisfied with the High Court bench dividing the site into three parts,Singhal said. "It is the wish of entire Hindu community to build a Ram Mandir at Ayodhya and the wish would be fulfilled with the construction of a temple on the 70-acre land acquired for this purpose," he said.
