In two air incidents,an Air India aircraft had a tyre-burst while landing and a Kingfisher plane suffered a bird hit during take-off on Monday but around 300 persons who were on board the planes were safe. Passengers of the Varanasi-bound Air India flight from Mumbai had a miraculous escape as the plane suffered a tyre-burst during landing for a scheduled halt at the Amausi airport in Lucknow this morning,airport sources in Lucknow said. The sources said there were around 150 passengers and crew on board IC-195 and all are safe. Air India officials were not available for comments. In the incident involving Kingfisher,its plane with 160 people on board suffered a bird hit as it took off from IGI airport in New Delhi but landed safely at Mumbai with one of its two engines damaged. "Kingfisher flight IT 302 operating from New Delhi to Mumbai today reported a 'suspected' bird hit after takeoff,during the climb phase," an airline spokesperson said. Earlier,the spokesperson had maintained that the airline had suffered bird hit while landing at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International airport. As the Commander found all the operating parameters of the engine and the Airbus A-321 normal,he decided to continue the onward journey to Mumbai,the spokesperson said. The aircraft,carrying 153 passengers and 7 crew members,made an "absolutely normal and safe landing at Mumbai airport at 8:12 am",he said. During the post-flight check,it was found that engine number 2 had suffered a bird hit,official sources said in Mumbai. The aircraft has been grounded and will return into service once the damage has been repaired.
