Jagan unveils flag of Y S R Congress Party

The blue-white-green coloured flag contains image of the late Andhra Pradesh CM Y S R Reddy.

Former Congress MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy formally unveiled the flag of ‘Y S R Congress Party’ at his father’s samadhi in Kadapa district’s Rajiv Knowledge Valley.

The blue-white-green coloured flag contains the image of the late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in the centre, encircled by images of the various welfare schemes launched by him. Blue is symbolic of ‘youth awakening’,white stands for ‘peace’ while green symbolises ‘agriculture’.

Jagan, who quit the Congress as well as his Lok Sabha seat on November 29,2010,alleging that the party “humiliated” his family, had then announced he would soon launch his own party.

But his plans hit a roadblock as one K Siva Kumar had already registered a party by the name YSR Congress.

Jagan entered into an ‘agreement’ with Kumar and reportedly offered him a “key post” in exchange for the party’s name.

He also became a member of the already-registered YSR Congress and subsequently got elected as its president.

Yesterday,he announced the name of the party YSR Congress ¿ at a public meeting in Jaggampet in East Godavari district.

Since the model of conduct is in place in Kadapa district in view of the elections to the Legislative Council from the Local Authorities Constituency,Jagan sought to make the flag unveiling a low-key affair.

Congress MP from Nellore Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy,MLAs Mekapati Chandramohan Reddy,Balineni Srinivasa Reddy,Amarnath Reddy,G Srikanth Reddy,Adinarayana Reddy,Siva Prasad Reddy,Ramachandra Reddy,Babu Rao,Konda Surekha,Praja Rajyam Party MLAs B Sobha Nagi Reddy,Katasani Rami Reddy,MLC Jupudi Prabhakar and several other leaders also attended along with scores of Jagan supporters.
