Illegal mining: HC adjourns Yeddy’s petition to Aug 22

BSY is seeking direction to quash part of Lokayukta report,which indicted him in mining scam.

The Karnataka High Court today adjourned to August 22 the hearing of a writ petition filed by former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa seeking direction to quash Chapter 22 of the Lokayukta report,which indicted him in illegal mining scam.

A division bench,comprising Justices K L Manjunath and H S Kempanna,adjourned the petition after senior counsel for Yeddyurappa sought time till August 22 for consideration of the report.

The counsel submitted that he had procured the relevant documents pertaining to the UV Singh report on illegal mining and would be filing it before the registry during the course of the day.

Earlier,the court on August 10 had granted time to the petitioner to produce the relevant documents of the UV Singh report.

Yeddyurappa has prayed for quashing of Chapter 22 of the Lokayukta report,which holds him guilty of financial transactions between South West Mining Company and Prerana Education Society,a trust owned and managed by his family in Shimoga.
