Govt to get Adarsh commission’s interim report tomorrow

Interim report is expected to throw light on issues of ownership of plot of land in south Mumbai.

The Judicial Commission probing the Adarsh Housing Society scam will submit an interim report to the Maharashtra government tomorrow,it said today.

The interim report, which will be in a sealed cover,is expected to throw light on the issues of ownership and reservation of the plot of land in south Mumbai,on which the scam-tainted Adarsh Society stands.

The contentious issues are whether the land belonged to the state or the Ministry of Defence, and whether it was reserved for the kin of Kargil war heroes.

The allegations in the case are that the land was allotted by the state government to the Society though it belonged to the MoD,and the building came up in violation of several civic and environmental norms.

The state government had approached the commission a few months ago seeking an interim report on title and reservation points.

On May 14,the commission will fix the dates for recording of the statements of minister Sunil Tatkare, senior politician Shivajirao Nilengekar-Patil,and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan.

The dates for recording of statements of Union Ministers Vilasrao Deshmukh and Sushilkumar Shinde would be fixed on May 23.
