Environmental and Social activist,K N Govindacharya today said the wrong policies of the government resulting in large-scale migration, poverty and unemployment were a root cause of Naxalism in the country. Disparity within the society owing to the pro-rich policies of the government coupled with increasing unemployment and poverty led Naxalism to crop up in the country,Govindacharya said. Govindacharya was in the steel city to take part in a function organized by 'Bustee Vikas Samity',a front spearhead to fight for the ownership of land and civic amenities of people living in 86 slum areas on encroached land for decades. The problem would be solved by bringing in political and electoral reforms and all round development,he told newsmen here. Govindacharya also castigated the prevailing political scenario in the country and said there was no difference between the ruling and the opposition parties. About Gandhian Anna Hazare's movement against corruption,Govindacharya said the inconclusive debate and drama witnessed in the last session of parliament over Janlok Pal Bill exhibited the attitude of different political parties about the need of a strong anti-corruption bill. The attitude of the politicians in the parliament had exposed their 'hypocrisy',he added.
