Enquiry on women police going with minister & family to Sabarimala

Police are inquiring into an allegation that two woman constables trekked to a certain distance of Sabarimala hills.

Police are inquiring into an allegation that two woman constables trekked to a certain distance of Sabarimala hills with agriculture minister K P Mohanan and some family members on Monday, violating the age-old custom barring women in the 10-50 age group from visiting the holy hillock.

The issue was brought to the notice of police by some devotees, who claimed that they saw the women constables accompanying the minister’s team, which included some women in the permissible age group and children.

They claimed the police women went upto the Neelimala, some 1.5 km before the Sannidhanam, where the shrine of Lord Ayyappa is located.
