Dehlvi moved the court for release of travel documents and permission to go offshore.

CBI,however, opposed the application saying the case was at an initial stage and there was “likelihood of him tampering with the evidence.”

The court, while permitting him to go abroad, directed him to furnish a bank guarantee of Rs 5 lakh and submit the itinerary and place of his stay in Singapore.

It also asked him to ensure that he appears before it when he is here and is represented by an advocate when out of country.

The court also directed him to report to CBI within three days of his return to India.

The CBI has filed a case against Lalli and Dehlvi in connection with alleged irregularities in award of broadcasting contract for the games to a UK-based SIS Live by Prasar Bharti.

A major portion of the contract given to SIS Live by Prasar Bharti for production and coverage of CWG was unduly sub-contracted to Zoom Communications resulting in loss of nearly Rs 135 crore to the exchequer, the agency said.
