CII proposes role of pvt sector in Naxal hit states

CII proposes to set up a committee to explore the possibility of the pvt sector playing a socially relevant role in Naxal-infested states.

The national council of CII proposes to set up a committee to explore the possibility of the private sector playing a socially relevant role in Naxal-infested states in the country.

The committee,which is expected to be set up tomorrow at the national council meeting here,would deliberate on how the private sector could participate in the upliftment of areas which have seen Naxal activity,Chandrajit Baneerjee,Director General,CII told reporters today.

The first-of its-kind initiative could include issues like providing healthcare and educational amenities,he said.

“Such measures could help in building trust and adding to the well being of those living there”,he said.

The committee would look at interaction with state governments and local authorities on the matter. It would also look at identifying the right NGOs and building effective partnership with social organisations to carry forward the programmes.

The team would comprise 10 members and would have a balance in terms of representation from various regions,he said.
