Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley dubbed the central government as a 'headless chicken' for its handling of Ramdev's hunger strike. He alleged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has no authority and the Gandhi family, where the powers lay,has no accountability. Reacting sharply to the charges,Congress said the description fits well on the opposition party as it was wandering in political wilderness for the last seven years and its remote control RSS is omnipresent but always hidden. Terming the government as "headless chicken",Jaitely said there were two views in the government on how to deal with Ramdev's agitation. Jaitley claimed Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee had favoured a political settlement of the issue while Home Minister P Chidambaram wanted use of force. "That is why,I termed the government as a headless chicken. There is no statecraft in this government," he said. Jaitley also equated the UPA government with a corporate entity in which Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is the CEO who functions at the behest of the "owner" of the company. In an indirect attack on Sonia Gandhi,he said "the powers of the government lies with a particular family which does not have any accountability while Singh, despite being the Prime Minister does not have any authority over office". Hitting back,Congress spokesman Manish Tewari pointed to BJP being out of power for seven long years and said it was the opposition party which has been "running around like a headlike chicken" from 2004 to 2011.
